On a visit to Arnhem Land, there are many things that you probably want to know, such as how best to prepare yourself for the journey ahead of you.

While this tour is not particularly rigorous, it does require some physical aptitude, so there are some handy hints that you can keep in mind to be sure that you are prepared for the journey ahead of you.

Injalak hill is between 80 and 100 metres high and the walk up Injalak hill is over uneven ground in the natural landscape and NOT on “formed” paths.  However this is not a hiking tour and we do take things at a leisurly pace.  You do not need to be an athlete however you do need to be agile with good balance.  Remember we are in the tropics and temperatures can get into the high 30’s.

First and foremost, do remember that you’ll need a sturdy pair of walking shoes or boots, along with good socks. Take care of your feet, as you’ll be on them all day for the trek ahead of you. There is some hillside walking required of the visit to Arnhem Land, so prepare for this. Insect repellent and a good-quality SPF sunscreen are both necessary as well to protect yourself from the elements. Remember also to bring a hat and sunglasses for additional protection. Finally, bring snacks and at least a 1litre sized water vessel (we have iced water on board for “top ups”. We recommend high energy snacks such as nuts, trail mix, and the like.

On your trip, you’ll have the chance to spend a bit of money at the Injalak Arts and Crafts Centre, so don’t be left without any. You’ll also want to be able to take pictures, so bring a camera. Finally, remember always to bring any personal care items that will be necessary such as medications for your visit to Arnhem Land. If you need any more information about your trip, contact us at Top End Day Tours for advice, and we’ll be sure to give you any info that you require.
