The Mapularri tour will take you on a once in a lifetime journey to a pristine and unexplored part of Australia, that only a lucky few have been invited to visit before by its traditional owners. This brand new and unique tour is owned and operated by Tampu King Aboriginal Corporation, whose mission is to create meaningful employment and business opportunities for the people of Wurankuwu community while preserving and sharing their land and culture.

Your day will begin with a direct 30 minute direct charter flight taking you from Darwin to Wurankuwu community where local Tiwi guides will meet you and welcome you to their community. In a small group of no more than nine, you will spend the day with your guides who will show you their home and country, calling out to their ancestors when arriving at each place to say hello and to let them know they have brought visitors to see their home – just a small part of the beautiful Tiwi culture you will get to be a part of.
Each tour is unique and depend on the weather and time of year, but will generally include short hikes, sharing stories, swimming in crystal clear water holes, hunting for kurumpuka (mud crab) and jukwarringa (mud mussels) and relaxing on an unspoiled tropical island beach.
This is a unique and authentic experience, suited to people who are looking to escape and get back to nature, connecting with country and getting a glimpse into the truly special and ancient customs of the Tiwi people.
