Our one day Arnhem Land tour starts on Monday the 15th of May and finishes Friday 29th September
Our Arnhem Land day tour is suitable for active people who have reasonable fitness and mobility. You need to be agile enough to walk over uneven surfaces and sandy rocks and fit enough to walk up a hill to fully enjoy and make the most of our this day tour. We have a short video of the tour on the website so guests can see what type of terrain we cover.
We take small groups of up to 17 guests in an air-conditioned vehicle on this full day adventure in Arnhem land. Visitors experience a fascinating mixture of traditional and living culture.
– Any pick ups at Aurora Kakadu, South Alligator at 7.50 am
– Pick up from Jabiru Accommodation at 8.30 am
Access to Aboriginal Lands (Arnhem Land) is restricted to a select group of tour operators.
While we are in Arnhem Land, a traditional Aboriginal guide will show you excellent examples of rock art on Injalak Hill (Long Tom Dreaming). This area has some of the best rock art examples in Western Arnhem Land and some say Australia. The view from the top of the hill is simply breathtaking, looking out across the floodplains and around the Arnhem Land escarpment. When we farewell our Aboriginal guide back at the award-winning Injalak Art and Craft Centre (Gunbalanya) you will have an opportunity to browse or purchase goods from this non-profit Aboriginal organisation and have time to watch the traditional Aboriginal people painting and to see the women weaving pandanus baskets.
Note: the Injalak Arts and Crafts centre is closed on Sundays, some public holidays and very occasionally for ceremonial reasons.
With its stunning scenery of billabongs, birds, escarpment this is truly a place where you can escape and experience this unique untouched haven of the Northern Territory.
Access to Arnhem Land is by invitation by the local Aboriginal people, and the traditional owners may deny access at any time.
